CHECHNYA, LET’S BREAK THE SILENCE
Chechnya has become an enormous outdoor prison in which the civilian population is subjected to constant repression and abuse.
A false image of stability and recovery, with Kadyrov (the Kremlin’s strongman) at the helm of the government rebuilding the country, hides a totalitarian regime that has spread terror amongst the population with security forces that kidnap, torture and murder with total impunity.
This has been a hermetically sealed region since 1999 to which the Russian authorities have refused access to journalists, observers and international humanitarian workers. In this black hole everything occurs in silence.
The Lliga dels Drets dels Pobles wishes to rescue Chechnya from oblivion and denounce the state of terror in which the population of this republic has lived for more than a decade; a state of terror that is spreading to neighbouring republics
